ST. PAUL'S POST 145 Palmetto Girls and Boys STATE 

 

Each year Post 145 strives to sponsor young ladies and men, who are rising seniors in good standing, from local St. Paul's Parish High Schools and Homeschools to attend Palmetto Girls State or Palmetto Boys State. We will post the criteria and timelines for candidacy on this web page on 1 January each Year.

Listed below are the outstanding citizens, ladies and men, who were selected to attend through Post 145 sponsorship. Post 145 has been honored to support these young ladies and men who have shown great maturity at these Palmetto State experiences and brought honor to St. Paul's Parish.

For 2022: Post 145 sponsored a deserving young man from Lowcountry Leadership Charter School to represent St. Paul's Parish at the South Carolina American Legion 2022 Boys State. Michael Lane Shearer, our selectee, conducted himself in a dignified and exemplary manner. We are proud of his success at Boys State. He plans to return to Boys State after High School graduation as a counselor.

For 2023: Post 145 sponsored two deserving young men--Marquis Hogan (Baptist Hill High School) and Aiden Bell (Lowcountry Leadership Charter School)--to represent St. Paul's Parish at the South Carolina American Legion 2022 Boys State. Post 145 also sponsoired one young lady --Kezaih Darby  (Lowcountry Leadership Charter School) to represent St. Paul's Parish at Palmetto Girls State 2023. All three of these individuals represented our community well.

For 2024: Post 145  sponsored one young lady to Palmetto Girls State--Sarah P. Allston (Lowcountry Leadership Charter School- LLCS)- and four young men to Palmetto Boys State--Thomas Ian Smith and Joseph Payton Bullock (both from LLCS), and Deshawn Washington Jenkins and Alexander M. Hernandez (both from Baptist Hill High School)..

For 2025: Post 145 sponsored four young ladies to Palmetto Girls State--Ms Ava Sires (Homeschool), Ms Dana Cobb (Lowcountry Leadership Charter School- LLCS), Ms Esmeralda Derramona and Ms Kyara Toledano (both from Baptist Hill High School). and three young men--Caden Johnson-Pellos (LLCS), Alexander Nesbit (Baptist Hill High School), and Nathaniel Smoak (James Island High School).
